Thoughts On Terrorism In Nigeria

Negative memories of the past - terrorism, kidnapping,
politicians, political wannabe's, national
conference,
our army force and the overall
death toll etc clouds my head. Especially if
you've seen the video of the bomb blast outcome,
you'd be hyper-traumatised. How about the
kidnapped kids? Only God knows their fate. Like
every other caring Nigerian, it got me thinking
and asking myself questions like 'God where are
you'? 'Where did we go wrong'? 'What have we
done to deserve this'? 'Are we going on extinct'
'Who's next'? 'How do we go about this'? Indeed,
these are trying times.
My focus is on terrorism. First thing first, I'd
like to state categorically that 'the act of
terrorism' is not spiritual(as thought by many)
but human, a scientific act and as such, it must
be treated in the same style. The monday
(14/04/2014) bombing and the kidnapping of
over 100 innocent school children were a
collective and calculated act, therefore, we
must follow in the same way and not allow
ourselves to be subjected to unnecessary and
fruitless fasting spiced with unending prayers
(am not saying we shouldn't pray but rather
carry out swift actions, spiced with prayers -
faith without work is dead). I will not be
surprised if by sunday(20th April, 2014), some
pastors and their equivalent will begin to take
credit that their prayers made their members not
to be involved in the blast or among the
kidnapped kids and in the process coup money
from their member (quote me any day). This has
always been their 'mission statement'. In fact,
right now God is praying for us to do the right
thing now. Remember, God loves us all in the
same style, no favouritism here and same goes
to the so called irrelevant politicians who just
amass illegal wealth to themselves.
Terrorism is everywhere, worldwide and not
just in Nigeria. We all need to come together as
one, unite and proffer possible solution(s). Our
biggest mistake was trying to negotiate with
BK, nobody does that. Many countries that have
experienced or experiencing the act of terrorism
don't negotiate, they unite and fight(they
rather die on their feet than live on their
knees). We all should be prepared because this
BK issue will not erode in a year, two, three or
even ten years time, it's an international act
with powerful networks. Take for example in the
America, it took them years to finally out power
this wicked act.
My systematic approach on the big issue of
terrorism was drawn from the movie "24". I was
opportune to watch from season 1 - 3 again. I
did a comparative analysis and found out that we
are acting the same movie but this time the BK's
winning. Some of my suggestions include:
• WE MUST FIRST CHANGE OUR ATTITUDE: In
two words, the 'Blame Game' sums up our
attitude. Mr. A is blaming C as the cause, Mr. B
is blaming D as the cause and Mr. C and Mr. D
blaming A and B in return. We better start
thinking of possible solutions instead of this
continual trend. Need I say more?
• STRONG REFORM IN OUR GOVERNMENTAL
ADMINISTRATION: Any and everyone will agree
with me that our governmental system is very
poor, sometimes, am forced to compare it to a
nursery school setting. Nobody is held
accountable or even responsible for their
actions, especially with the no penalty setting
for LOOTERS. The system itself it part of the
problem. Yes am also talking to our public office
holders both past and present. Basically, 98% of
our public office holders don't even know the
reason why we vote them into employment, all
they download into their head is MONEY
LOOTING. This has not been the first, second or
even third that they have looted and gone scots
free. Do we have intelligence in the system? The
high commissioner of sudan to Nigeria made
some thrilling revelations(about Gov. Yarima)
some ago from a press conference and nobody is
taking it serious - all the focus now is on PDP,
APC(shaking my head). To me, fuck the GDP,
what is GDP when my people perish in a
geometric progression? Time to switch our
focus.
• CREATE A UNIT FOR TERRORISM (an anti-
terrorist unit): The army alone surely cannot do
this alone. They are too engaged by this bad boys
and in the process lose direction trying to
please ??? Only God knows who. A man who is not
focused cannot achieve anything. This Anti-
Terrorist Unit(ATU) will focus, chase, create
intelligence, fight and check the activities of
this terrorists till they are no more. Also,
several units can be created to work in synergy
for this sole purpose(this will in turn create
employment). Also in it as a sub unit, a forensic
unit to help predict their pattern, trace the
sellers of their weapons and possibly fish out
their sponsors. Any person, be it this or whoever
that has in the past been linked to the BK must
be investigated thoroughly and prosecuted if
guilty. While in the process, they will work in
synergy with other security agencies to
maximise success
• RE-SHAPE, RE-ENERGISE, CHECK and
BALANCE THE NIGERIA IMMIGRATION SERVICE
(NIS): Over time, we've been told that the BK's
come down here to carry out their act from other
countries. Who's activity(s) is it to put a check
on this? The NIS! They better be informed of
their true duties and responsibilities, rather
than just sit in the office and issue visa - it's
sure bigger than that. Millions of people were
and still willing to work for the NIS(from their
poor conducted exercise), this is the time
• WE MUST BE PROACTIVE AND NOT REACTIVE:
If 1 - 4 is properly adopted and it's true meaning
established, then we can be proactive, predict
and prevent future happenings with respect to
the subject matter.
• UNEMPLOYMENT: This should have been my
number 1 but I choose to put it here. Remember
the popular saying 'an idle mind is a devils
workshop'? Yes, that is what it does. One will
graduate for years without job, no place to
route. If the people to a large extent are
engaged(no matter how small), the enemies will
not and never see a way of luring unemployed
and idle minds to themselves only to be used for
the wrong reasons. We all want to survive and
when this is not there, joining the BK becomes
more ideal than being idle. Like I always say 'an
average Nigeria is way too intelligent (do the
history), they will be used against us and thus
they can't be stopped.
ICT: Let's not deceive ourselves one bit, the BK's
are more literate in ICT then the whole nation -
Nigeria is. The effect of this alone cannot be
over emphasised. Too obvious
• MONEY MUST BE INVOLVED: Rather than
spending tax payers money on wrong and
frivolous things, why can't we just for once do
the right thing for the right reasons and
purpose. Instead of the usual 'today $10bn
missing', '$50 billion or so for subsidy missing',
'private jets everywhere', 'foreign investments
everywhere abroad except Nigeria', 'soldiers
crying they were not paid(the worst)' etc. Why
can there be an attitude and character
reformation. This type of money will go a long
way to properly fund the ATU. Every year we
claim trillions upon trillions of naira is being
spent on security but see our situation? - it's a
dead one.
• OTHER S0LUTIONS: it's not just about me, my
ideas and so on. It's about US. I'll leave this last
one for my fellow citizens to sit, think, come
together and offer solutions. It's high time we
tell ourselves the raw truth - enough is enough!
CONCLUSION:
It's not a one man job, not just President GEJ's
job, his cabinet, not PDP's neither it is that of
the APC but our collective job(s). We can't
continue to say 'the president is a good man but
the people around him are the cause'. Anyone
not good should be dropped asap. The president
himself should know he need the best round him
to move forward.
How long shall we continue to fold our hands,
drink, dance, maybe party in the mist of all these
problems and say prayer and fasting is a sure
solution. Let's drop the blaming, god fatherism
act, keep tribalism aside, religion aside too and
face what's in front of us.
God bless Nigeria
